The Ted Megaways slot is a much anticipated release from Blueprint Gaming. Here they have taken one of their biggest hits which was originally released in 2017 and give it the Megaways makeover. It’s now got a huge 117,649 ways to win when all the Megaways are in play which 6 reels and from 2 to 7 paylines on each.Ted Megaways is a high volatility slot with a maximum payout of 50,000x and a very average looking RTP of 96.03%. It makes use of the Cascading wins which Megaways are famous for and has just one bonus round and one base game modifier. This could perhaps upset fans of the original as, for me at least, a big part of the original Ted slots appeal was the amount of bonus games you could get. However, when the Megaways come into play and a slot gets a makeover it can also certainly add to the appeal too. To see what i made of Ted Megaways please read on for the full review.

Summary
Ted Megaways has done away with most of the bonus rounds which made the original so appealing to many players. However, the cascading wins and general Megaways makeover has been somewhat successful with a well designed game that looks great and plays well too. The Thunder Buddies free spins bonus round has huge potential and the 50,000x max win could make for some juicy payouts.

Thunder Buddies Free Spins Bonus
This is the main bonus which the game revolves around and is what you need to trigger to see the real potential of Ted Megaways. You’ll get this bonus through landing 4 Scatter symbols and be given 12 free spins with a starting point of 1,000 Megaways. However, you can, if you’re feeling brave, hit the spin button on the Mega Wheel and gamble the bonus in an attempt to get a higher number of Megaways – if you do this you could well end up with less spins and less Megaways though. A disastrous outcome could see just 5 free spins on 324 Megaways, however you could also bad 10,000 Megways and still keep your full 12 free spins, which would give you a nice bit of playing potential for some big fat payouts.
The Cascading wins feature, which is also in play in the base game, means that with each win from a connecting line, the winning symbols will disappear and new ones will fall into place from above. This keep going until no more winning lines are formed. During the free spins each time you get one winning line the win Multiplier goes up by 1x, so a chain of wins on a single spin can see your multiplier rocket up.
Players can also increase the amount of Megaways in play, this goes up incrementally every time you land in 3 Teds you’ll step up to the next level, ideally getting all the way up to 117,649 ways.
Lazer Mystery Symbols
Ted can also spring to life at any time during both the base game and the free spins, he’ll get up, spit out a one liner that he’s so famed for and then shoot his lazer gun. This will add up to 100 Mystery symbols to the reels. Not all of these will land in, of course, however it can make for some really good winning combinations, especially when the symbols all change to reveal their value. Though often you might find it’s a load of 9s landing in and barely connecting, such is my luck on many an occasion with Megaways slots!
Non UK players Can Buy the Bonus
Another nice feature of Ted Megaways, if you’re playing outside the UK anyway, is that you can simply buy your way into the Thunder Buddies free spins round. This will cost 150x your stake and it’s seriously risky as if the bonus doesn’t turn out well you can find your balance eaten up before you’ve even really got started, so proceed with caution of you decide to go down this route.
Sound and Graphics
The original music plays during the base game with a slightly elevator music type feel to it which never really appealed to me personally and sent me off to sleep. It’s the quips from Ted that bring it to life, however, Ted Megaways isn’t quite as packed with them as the original. When you hit the Thunder Buddies free spins round it picks up into a synthetic kind of rock music. I never found either too appealing and certainly wouldn’t be turning the volume up.
Graphics wise it has the symbols of the original with the playing cards as the lower value symbols and then you have the duck (or James Franco as he was called in the movie), the blond girl, beer bottles, Ted Symbols and Ted himself. The only one which i think is missing is the bong. It looks top notch overall as would be expected.
